EUROPEAN CAPTAINS UNITE AT INVITATIONAL

30 January 2016

The captains of Europe's two major professional golf teams, Carin Koch and Paul McGinley, will both play in this weekend's Abu Dhabi Invitational at Yas Links.

Sweden's Koch presided over the Solheim Cup team that went down to the USA in Germany back in September, while Irishman McGinley captained Europe's men to victory in the Ryder Cup in Scotland in 2014.

Although best-known for their recent non-playing team captaincy exploits, both were succesful players at the peak of their professional careers. Each is in with a great chance of winning Sunday's individual competition, in which the professionals will be competing for a share of an AED 1 million prize fund.

Koch will be one of four female professionals in the field. She will be joined by British players Amy Boulden and Carly Booth, as well as Spanish pro Emma Cabrera-Bello.

The professionals playing on Sunday will be paired up with a VVIP from the world of business and sport. In addition to individual competitions, the pro-am duos will be taking part in a team betterball contest.
